Great Lakes Region - Scheduling IssuesFollowing you will find a reminder from Sandi Douglass, our regional scheduler. Sandi has been having considerable trouble with lack of notification of show dates. Some of you have been great, while others have failed to notify her of your intent to hold your show on your usual date, and/or a desire to change a date.Sandi has found it necessary to use the CFA calendar to obtain show date information, or we don't know of a planned change in date until I am notified of that request by Gwen Foster at the CFA Central Office. Keep in mind, the system will work ONLY if everyone makes the effort to keep Sandi informed. The alternative to a regional scheduler is an open calendar that could result in chaos. Sandi and I have been discussing several ideas to make the system work better, and will be making those suggestions in June, at the Regional meeting that will be held at the awards show on Saturday afternoon. If you have suggestions and ideas to help in this issue, please forward them to me at this e-mail address, Regional-Director@CFAgreatlakes.org, by snail mail, or in person at a show. I would prefer your ideas to be written down. We will discuss them and arrive at some type of consensus, which will be noticed to all clubs. Again, we need you help and participation. Keep Sandi informed. The root of many problems, both here and in other areas outside CFA, many times results from poor communication - so please COMMUNICATE!

As your regional scheduler, I am finding that many of you are not informing me when you are planning a show. Even if it is your so-called traditional date, I need to know when you are contracting judges for a certain date so I can pencil you in for that show date. Many times, I have had to resort to pulling up the CFA website and getting the information from there, and it is not updated as often as I might like, plus I could possibly miss something doing it that way. What I need from you is this -- the minute you start contracting judges for a certain show weekend, send me an email at Scheduler@CFAgreatlakes.org to let me know this. IF this is not done, there is the possibility that your show date may be quoted as available to another club looking for an open show date. I only have the records stored on my computer as a guideline. Therefore, if you have not notified me, your show date would be open on my calendar.
